La Vall d’ Alcalà is located in the northeast of the province of Alicante, in the subregion of the Valley of Pego (Marina Alta) . La Vall d’ Alcalà was formed with seven populations, called Alcalà of Jovada, Beniaia, Criola, Benialí, Benijarco, La Roca and La Adsubia . At present only two belong to the valley as a local entity: Alcalá de la Jovada and Beniaya. La Vall d’ Alcalà had important fief as the capital of Arab leader Al- Azraq who fought for years to Jaime I of Aragon who finished banishing. Still remembered in Alcala de la Jovada these facts with a fountain whose spout out of the mouth of an effigy of the Muslim leader.
